The village is also well known as the location of Polesden Lacey; a country house on the southern edge of the village, surrounded by more than 1,000 acres (4.0 km2) of grounds, now owned by the National Trust and open to the public. The property is within five minutes walk of the High Street, and a twenty-minute walk to Bookham mainline train station.
